Think of them more as "Guidelines" ONE. MODERATORS Please respect your Mods! We're not only here to make sure the game runs smoothly but we're also here to make the rules, which in turn helps makes play easier. We make a point to be here whenever you need us through AIM or email, even PM, we're always open to suggestions and plot points and disucssions too. We want things to be as fun as possible, so please, if we suggest something to perhaps change at some stage it's NOT because we're on a power trip it's because we have the players' best interests for the game at heart. Of course if you really think something shouldn't be changed, we'll listen to your views too. We're as fair as possible. Respect us and we'll love you! TWO. GOD-MODDING. NO GODMODDING IS ALLOWED. Everyone should know this, but if you don't let us refresh your memory - God-modding is where you move, play, or effect another person's character without their permission. Such as "Amy hit Angela right in the stomach who then keeled over in pain, writhing and admitting defeat." That is not how we do things. You're welcome to put "Amy hit Angela right in the stomach" OR "Amy went to hit Angela in the stomach" but please refrain from putting that awful example of godmodding at the end of it. Why not try "...in the stomach, growling as she did so / her face full of anger / all over an argument about a cheese sandwhich". So long as it's not Godmodding, we don't care. THREE. DRAMA, IN GAME AND OUT No over-the-top IC or OOC drama please, though we're tougher on the OOC area of this. Drama is good in RP, that's true, but please try and stop yourself from getting your character pregnant/engaged within a week of seeing someone. Also, if your character hates another don't take it out on the player. That's taking the game FAR too seriously for anybody's liking. "A New Dawn Rises" is just an RP... a game for people to flex their characters, or writing skills, or just a place to have fun and plot within the RP universe. Please don't start a raucous. FOUR. ADVANCED RPG PLAYERS Ok, so by advanced we mean correct grammar, punctuation, spelling, and being imaginative. One line of "she looked to Alice and smiled" is not only boring, giving nothing for the other player who has Alice to go off, but it will also earn you a warning. 3 warnings and you'll be asked to leave, which goes for OOC drama too. FIVE. "SLASH" AND HOMOSEXUALITY Don't get us wrong, we enjoy a decent bit of slash every now and then and have nothing against homosexuality (hell, if I did my gay friends would be confused as to why I talked to them in the first place - LottieMod) but too much can sometimes bring the game down. This is RP, gay characters are allowed etc but there must be a solid reason for this. Being homosexual was frowned upon but admittedly still thriving behind closed doors. No-one wanted to be tarnished a "sodomite" but then the French were occasionally open with this sort of thing. I highly doubt a gay Lord would run around gushing about how good pink looks on his girl friends, recommend hair products and sing "I Am What I Am" at every opportunity to name one extreme stereotype. Please keep it realistic and plausible. Regarding slash - if you want to do it, make sure you talk about it with an existing player if the one you're applying for wishes to be involved with one of their characters. SIX JOURNALS AND COMMUNITY Of course, as there's no magic in this RPG, some might think journals are useless and should be discounted. On the contrary! They can be used to log the characters' individual thoughts and emotions allowing the players a glimpse into the way their minds work. It is true that most interactions will occur in the main Community but we don't think this is a bad thing - all it does is encourage threads and a little bit more thought-provoking writing! There's no harm in that and it'll do wonders for character development. SEVEN THE OC'S No, not the programme! This relates to Original Characters. There are a lot in this RPG, simply because we don't want to dictate the types that people should apply for or how they should be creatively, but PLEASE - keep them believable. All we ask for is common sense in this department. EIGHT OTHER PLAYERS A key rule here, one which we don't take lightly. Obviously some characters won't like or interact with some others, but regarding the players we'd like everyone to feel involved. It doesn't matter if you don't interact IC, don't make others feel out of place or abandoned because you're over the moon with some other storyline. Of course, if you're feeling this way - left out and don't know what to do - please contact a mod ASAP if you feel like this. NINE LANGUAGE AND WRITINGS This is England. 18th Century England. We don't use "sidewalk" "trash" or "garbage" etc, and they were very well spoken and mannered. Please not too many abbreviations, and please NO text talk! God forbid! Try to keep the feel of the game alive in this aera. TEN OTHER COMMUNITIES |
